MDG - Diverse Initiatives

The Mali Development Group is a British NGO set up in 2001 by friends of J&D in England, who had been supporting the NGO's activities since the year 2000. It has funded a range of diverse initiatives, including motorbikes for field workers and mills manged by women's associations in Manankoro. It has also funded the construction of new classrooms for a rural primary scool in Kouroulamini and developed linkes between schools in Bamako and schools in England. MDG collects its funds throguh subscriptions. donations, sponsored events and the sale of greetings cards based on drawings provided by children in Mali. The organisation also applies for project funding from UK based NGOs and helps to raise awareness about life in Mali among people in the UK. MDG also finances the Reproductive Health programme and in 2008 a barrage to retain water in Mafélé will be one of the activities of the Manankoro programme.
